Say
actions in the game screen.Using Say mode adds 'You say'
to the beginning of your input and wraps whatever you type in quotation marks, unless you typed them yourself. This is essentially Do mode, but a shortcut for speech.
The AI treats Say inputs similarly to Do inputs, so anything you type is recognized by the AI as a speaking action performed by your character, and it reacts by generating a response to that action within the context of the story.
Example:
Player input: Where in the world did you come from?
Input sent to the AI: > You say "Where in the world did you come from?"
Tip: Say is here for more convenience and clarity of use. If you want to spice up your dialogue, use Do and have a more interesting input than “You say”; shout, cry, ponder, or even combine actions while saying something.
Example:
Player input: shout, “Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!” as you shake your fist at the schoolmaster.
Input sent to the AI: > You shout, “Hey! Teachers! Leave them kids alone!” as you shake your fist at the schoolmaster.
Tip: If you only use Do and Say modes during gameplay, the AI is more likely to generate repetitive sentences that always start with ‘You’. To avoid this, we recommend varying your inputs between Do, Say, and Story; this will encourage the AI to generate a wider variety of sentence types throughout your adventure.
